Is this the Season of Change for You?
Don’t you just love autumn? I do, it is so fascinating to watch the leaves change to such beautiful colours and they float elegantly to the ground. When it is windy the leaves look like they are dancing.
I was out with my daughter yesterday who is 5 years old and we were picking up and studying the fallen leaves. The colours were amazing. My daughter collected her favourite ones. Some were red, some orange and some yellow. Bright and vibrant colours. The leaves felt soft, as if they had only just fallen.
What Do You Notice?
Whilst you are out walking, take notice of what you can see and the beautiful colours you are surrounded by. We take our surroundings for granted sometimes and don’t see the beauty in all that is around us. This can also relate to life as well.
Time for Change?
Autumn is one of my favourite seasons as I see it as a season of change. Nature is so wonderful as it constantly changes, but you never see a plant or a tree wondering whether it should or shouldn’t shed its leaves.
Yet for some of us change can be so difficult. You know you need to make a change, but you feel stuck. A tree lets go of its leaves and knows that when the Spring comes it will be back to its full glory with lovely new green leaves.
If you relate this to your life, imagine that if you were to let go of what needs to change and that something you want is going to replace it.
There may be something out there that is better than what you already have. We feel stuck because we can never imagine that we can have a better life.
Life is not predictable – but why waste so much of your life wanting something but not doing anything to change it?
Ready for Change?
To be ready for change you need to firstly recognise what you are not happy with in your life. This may take you some time. You also need to remember that happiness comes from within.
We can make the wrong choices if they are driven by: ‘if I have this I will be happy.’ Then when you achieve it you are still not happy. So, for any change you have to have some self-awareness.
Take a good look at yourself, your life and what is happening. You also need to remember you can’t change other people, but you can change yourself. You can change your behaviour, which may change how others behave towards you.
Even though the trees lose their leaves they are still standing big and strong. You too can find the strength within you to make that change. It is all about whether it is the right time for you.
What Is Stopping You?
Lack of motivation and fear are the two main contributors to people not making any change at all.
I always ask myself this question ‘what is the worst thing that can possibly happen if I make a change?’ Now your fear has stepped in as you hear yourself saying: ‘It may go wrong or not work out.’
Okay, so it may not turn out as you expected. What do you do now? You can always take action and make another change. There are no rules to say you can only change something once. Ask yourself:
- Are you still not over your fears or feeling motivated?
- Think of a time when you were How did you feel? What were you doing?
- How bad does your life have to be to get you to this point?
- Are you going to do something or just wait?
This may be where your fears are holding you back. I want you to remember this: FEARS ARE NOT REAL.
Fears are your mind being over-active, imagining all sorts of things bad things happening. You are imagining what your future will be like. Your future hasn’t happened yet. Your future is what you decide to create so why not create what you want?
Visualise the change happening and everything going to plan. Tell yourself the good story not the bad one.
Are you ready now?
